Microbiome & Cravings

· Blog

We love Zach Bush, M.D. for his research and optimism about our health. Join us as we introduce him in a short segment from one of his fascinating talks about how, as our microbiome changes, our tastes and cravings change too.

We found that so interesting that our bodies send signals to feed the type of microbiome we have. If we feed it high nutrient whole foods, it will send signals for more of that food that makes the body thrive. And if we feed ourselves processed low nutrient dense food, the body will send signals to eat more of what creates obesity and many of the diseases that flourish in North America.

This helps us understand why some people crave poor foods that they know are creating problems for them. And the good news is that the microbiome is constantly changing to reflect the quality of the food we eat. So, within 7-14 days we can see a natural shift to preferring high nutrient dense food by eating them.
