Last week we talked about you being your best authority. This week we're looking at that same concept from a context that provides real ease and clarity in making a decision.
Join us to hear more.
Like we said last week, we think the way you're going to get the best guidance about what to eat and have the best relationship with food is by listening to your own inner wisdom. You are your best authority. And Dr. Zach Bush made that point in a rather unique way.
When Joe Rogan asked him what he thought about coffee, Zach didn't even start to debate the pros and cons of coffee that Joe listed. Rather than consider coffee as something separate from the whole of our life, he suggested we look at our relationship with coffee from the perspective of not being separate from the nature that makes the coffee. And that we not base our relationship with it on what the separate nutrients of coffee are.
Basically, he said, look at everything in your life in the context of the wholeness that it is from the wholeness that you are. And, although Zach didn't put it this way, what we have found creates our best relationship to food, or anything in life, is to listen to our inner wisdom.
We feel this is what Zach was saying because our wisdom comes from our connection with the wholeness of life that we are part of. The thing to keep in mind is that to access this wisdom, we need a quiet mind. Not a mind that is busy overthinking and analyzing all the little bits of information we have about coffee. We need to let the mind settle down first.
The mind is designed to compare and analyze. There's a place for that. But when considering our relationship with coffee or anything else, it isn't about the pros and cons of coffee or whatever. It's about how it fits into our lives in that moment.
Can you see how it may be beneficial to drink a cup of coffee one morning and not the next? But how would we know this? The way we know this is from the quiet place within us. To do this, we need to be very present and relax to access our inner wisdom. And this is simpler than you may think.
The decision comes to us as a knowing, not as a logical conclusion from facts we've been told. This knowing may sound abstract, but haven't you experienced that yourself? Has there been a time in your life when there was a decision to be made and without thinking long and hard about it, you just knew what to do?
It's a quiet voice from within, or a nudge. And when that clarity arises, there's really nothing to debate about it, is there? It isn't based on the information we know, our beliefs or concepts. It's a pure and simple knowing.
Connie and I believe our wisdom comes out of our connection to the wholeness of nature and the intelligence that is behind this creation. But you don't need to believe that. When you have that quiet knowing, check it out. See if, by following it, it doesn't work out well for you.
The bottom line from us this week is "Follow your knowing."
And the recipe this week is for what we're calling a Fuller Sunbar. It's a recipe we put together after eating a couple of different bars we like that are commercially made. A Fuller Bar and a Sunbar.
And because we're always looking for how to have delicious food without the processed ingredients and additives so common in commercial food today we create a version that is WFPB and SOS-free. This is what we came up with for these bars and think it hit the nail on the head. Give it a try.

Connie and Bill
